Director’s Statement:
“Adventure, horror, hope, and helplessness.. These might be the four characteristics in which I find the most entertaining in cinema. My past two movies were nowhere near as much passion projects as Lockbox is. Lockbox follows a man named Nathaniel, who is down on hard times and craves a better life for him and his family. After a crazy string of events leads to Nathaniel ending up with a huge load of cash, he takes the opportunity to leave his small town and start a new life with his wife. But before they can leave town, Nathaniel must make a risky stop to get something from his past that he cannot leave behind. With a race against the clock, the cops, and seemingly the entire town, I cannot wait to direct a movie following Nathaniel’s escape for a better life.
Underneath this tale of twists and turns, there also lays much deeper meaning that everybody can connect with. This fun adventure is simply a metaphor for the nostalgia we all have. Nostalgia is a powerful emotion and I want it to be radiating throughout my film. And of course along with nostalgia comes the themes of family, love, and hope. This script is inspired by and made for those who struggle to provide the perfect future for the people they love. No matter how hard we try, life doesn’t always cater to what we want or think we deserve. This story is a perfect reflection of that.”
